Positivity rates for Covid-19 testing in Greene County continue on a slow downward trend, but the impact of the virus on older residents is becoming more apparent. Greene County public health director Becky Wolf announced Tuesday morning another resident age 80 or older has died of Covid-19, bringing the number of deaths to three. “We express our deepest sympathy to each family for their loss,” Wolf said.
The county added 10 cases of Covid-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 554. Of those, 310 are active cases and 235 persons are considered “recovered”. There have been 151 new cases in the past 14 days, 59 in the past seven days, and 18 in the past three days.
The average positivity rate of testing over the past 14 days is 17.9 percent. Days to double is at 26 if the current trend continues.
Forty-four percent of the total patients had no pre-existing health condition and 29 percent had no Covid symptoms.
Wolf stresses that persons who test positive should remain isolated from other household members and expect to be contacted by staff from Greene County public health or the Iowa Department of Public Health. Persons who have questions can call Greene County public health at 515-386-0564.
